- With all this discussion on the headstay I wandered over to the next
- dock where a SC-70 lives when she is not between SF and Hawaii. The owner
- said they have used the Harken, Pro Furl, and Hanks. They are faster with
- dual foils than hanks he said. The boat is often double handed to Hawaii
- and so they will use roller furling. For shorter races they take the Harken
- furling drums off and use the dual foil stay. He said that he would give
- the edge to the Pro furl only because the manual said you can winch the
- furling line. At night that might make the difference, shorthanded and in
- need of shorter headsail. He said that he has winched the harken with no
- ill effects.
-
- The guy also mentioned that the boat wins races with a full crew or short.
- He gave me some good ideas on using the Harken before and after a spinakker
- "launch". Not a boat for aesthetics but what a ride!
