  31. The F-117 definitely has one.  On the day before this year's
  32. airshow here in London, they were expecting an F-117 so they
  33. spent quite some time setting up a portable arrestor system for
  34. it at the end of the runway (couldn't figure out what they were
  35. doing :-).  I guess they're pretty sensitive about damaging these
  36. babies.  Anyway, to test it, they got one of our own CF-188s
  37. (F-18 to all you non-Canadians :-) to power up to full reheat and
  38. was quickly halted by the gear.  Fortunately, they didn't need
  39. it, since the F-117 landed without incident.  As soon as it had
  40. taxied off the runway, they dismantled the arrestor gear.

  42. They also set it up for it's departure the following Monday
  43. (didn't test it though).

  45. So tell me, is this common procedure?  They've never set up this
  46. stuff before here, and in all the airshows I've been to here and
  47. in Europe, this was the first time I saw this.  Needless to say,
  48. I feel fortunate to see this stuff in action (albeit only a
  49. ground test).
