- I think another reason that this phenomenon occurs is that the American
- car mags wrote about the GTi models for years before America got the GTI.
- In VW enthusiast's minds, the GTi had finally arrived! Also, Audi marketed
- a Fox GTi over here for a while, though I don't think that is the reason
- people type the current GTI as "GTi". -Greg
