- Reading from the shop manual, there are two switches - one to tell the computer
- that the throttle is at full (or close to it) and one to tell the computer it's
- at idle (no pressure on the pedal). If what I'm hearing from you is correct,
- the second switch (called the idle switch in the manual) was broken. Is this
- correct?

- I'm having the same problem on my '89 Jetta, and plan to check it out this
- weekend. Hopfully it's just the switch. Do you remember how much it cost (the
- part, not labor)?
