  15.     I do think the insurance companies have it in for us VW owners.  If you
  16. happen to drive a water-cooled VW, get prepared to pay high premiums, if you 
  17. drive an older, air-cooled VW, be prepared again to pay high premiums.

  19.     I guess they think us air-cooled VW owners enjoy a healthy living off
  20. of our vehicle's miserly ways at the gas station.  Even with gas at a dollar,
  21. any fool with a reasonably decent calculator can figure that we are just barely
  22. getting by.

  24.     TRUE STORY:

  26.     I had been a State Farm insurance customer for a year on my 74 VW
  27. superbeetle with auto-stick.

  29.     Then I had my accident, and it boiled down to his word against mine, 
  30. an important note here is that we both had State Farm insurance, or rather,
  31. his parents had insured all of their cars on State Farm, and they were always
  32. buying new cars.

  34.     What it boiled down to was State Farm believing him, as his parents had
  35. payed them more money.  So, not only are insurance companies biased against new
  36. VWs but they are also biased against old cars in general, as they only get 
  37. public liability and property damage out of them.
