- Classical slipping clutch problems. However, in 2years I'm surprised
- it's worn. Check clutch adjustment if any - this could be as easy as
- loosening a cable adjuster, 5 mins.
-
- If you've been hard on the clutch (city driving or frequent visitor at
- dragstrips) maybe this is expected.
-
- As for safety, it's not an issue. It will not explode or cause you to
- go off the road. You should assume you have less accelleration.
-
- Damage to the car will be minimal even if the clutch is badly worn.
- Extreme wear results in a scored flywheel and pressure plate. In
- general the flywheel would be machined and the pressure plate replaced
- during a clutch job. (However, if you do catch it early you might
- be able to save both).
-
- Sliping in 4,5 but not 1-3 is expected. The torque transmitted
- through the clutch gives more accelleration in lower gears so you
- don't notice the slipping as much.
