- About shifting automatic manually, I havev a few comments.
-
- When you have to get somewhere in a hurry fast, then I can see
- shifting up manually. Also, if one is descending a grade, I can see
- shifting down.
-
- However, needless shifting to manual at stoplights create more wear
- to the system than the cost of brakes. Same with downshifting to
- create engine braking, automatic or not.
-
- Racing is one thing, but the typical drive about town does not
- warrant wear to the transmission (auto) and the clutch (manual).
-
- Of course, I can see if your car is running poorly to shift to
- manual when your car is stopped, but not when your car is running
- well.
