  11. I have a '71 El Camino with a 350 engine with Edelbrock manifold and
  12. Rochestor Quadrajet carb.  I'm having trouble starting when the engine
  13. is cold.  If I floor the accellerator, the choke closes as it should.
  14. But then to get the engine started, I need to give it gas as I'm
  15. cranking, otherwise it won't start.  As soon as I give it gas, the
  16. choke opens which of course makes it hard to start.  (I've observed
  17. this with the air cleaner off.)

  19. Is this a problem with the choke or with the mixture?  The carb is
  20. running pretty lean as evidenced by the popping sound when I get off
  21. the gas.  Should I richen the mixture?  Idle speed is about right (I
  22. don't have a tach, but it sounds right).

  24. Is there an easy way to convert the automatic choke to a manual choke?
