- Newer cars with electric fuel pumps have the fuel pump power gated by oil
- pressure to prevent the pump from running when the engine is off. This is
- bypassed during starting. If the new fuel pump does the same thing, have a
- look at the fuel pump power lead during and immediately after starting.
- If power goes away when you quit cranking, suspect a bad fuel pump relay
- or oil pressure sender (or no oil pressure). Is the oil/check engine light
- on before it dies?
