  16. HISTORY:
  17. I bought the car from a used car lot. I saw it one evening, and it
  18. had not been there the previous day. The salesman told me that it had
  19. been owned by a "little old man & little old lady". Sure, I thought but
  20. the car was in pretty good shape, so I bought it. It was only later
  21. that I kept running into things that make me believe that this was
  22. actually the case.
  23. When I drove it home, it had Sears&Roebuck 78 series whitewall tires on 
  24. it. It had a "B.P.O.E." sticker on the rear view mirror. It had never had 
  25. an aftermarket radio installed in it. The secondaries on the carb were so 
  26. clogged with old gas and "varnish" that no fuel would flow through them. 
  27. The arm rests on both doors are heavily worn, and there is a place behind 
  28. each door where the paint is worn off from being used as a hand rail.
  29. As it sits, it has 89,000 original miles.

  31. WHAT I'VE PUT INTO IT:                                      MILEAGE SINCE:
  32. Radiator, heater core, water pump, all cooling hoses.          ~ 8,000 mi.
  33. Master and slave cylendars.                                    ~ 8,000 mi.
  34. Valve job with copper guides.                                  ~ 8,000 mi.
  35. All bushings in front end and 4 gas charged shocks.            ~ 7,000 mi.
  36. Rebuilt motor.
  37.     *Professionally done short block, with balancing
  38.     and a mild "off road" cam.
  39.         *High volume oil pump.
  40.         *Rebuilt and shimmed distributer.
  41.         *Light weight "flex" fan.                              ~ 3,000 mi.
  42. Full comp shift kit.                                           ~ 3,000 mi.
  43. Full transmission service, belts tightened, filter replaced,
  44. seals replaced.                                                ~ 2,000 mi.
  45. Carter AFB Performer carb.                                     ~ 1,000 mi.
  46. Edlebrock manifold                                             ~   500 mi.
  47. Rebuilt rear end, putting positrac 2:92 (stock ratio) gears
  48. new seals, bearings, new right axle. (professionally done)     ~   500 mi.
  49. 1" sway bars front and rear.                                   ~   500 mi.

  51. "EXTRA PARTS" not installed:
  52.     Original manifold, steering wheel, wire hubcaps.

  54.     From Herb Adams: 
  55.     4 brand new nitrogen filled shocks.
  56.     Stainless steel front end bushings.
  57. Note:
  58.     Herb Adams built the original Firebird Trans Am race car that dominated
  59.     the Trans Am racing series from 1967 to 1970. This car was a 1967
  60.     Firebird.  Herb claims that he can make this 1967 Firebird pull .89 Gs
  61.     on the skid pad. Set up the way the car is right now, with new tires,
  62.     he estimates .78-.8 Gs.
