  29.     Ok, i'm looking at a book called Mustang Recognition Guide,
  30.     1965-1973, by Larry Dobbs, Donald Farr, Jerry Heasley, Rick Kopec.

  32.     Much of it agrees with what Rex says above, but some conflicts.
  33.     I'll list the ones from Rex's list which differ from what this
  34.     book thinks.

  36.     -Tachometer mounted in the dash

  38.     There was a Tachometer Option which displaces the oil pressure/
  39.     ammeter gauge in the large right pod of the dash.  The tach has
  40.     two rectangular idiot lights at the bottom for oil/ammeter.
  41.     The tach is calibrated from 0-6K on all models but the 289 HiPo
  42.     which got a 8K tach.  Tach also includes a trip odometer.
  43.     This was independent of the GT option.

  45.     -Wood grain steering wheel

  47.     I show this as an individual option also, independent of GT.

  51.     Again, this shows up as an option separate from GT.

  55.     I beleive this is part of the Interior Decor Option, which is
  56.     the luxury version of the Mustang interior.  This includes :

  58.         Special door panels with aluminum inserts and molded
  59.           armrests.  The door handle changes to a pull back
  60.           type mounted in the front of the armrest.
  61.  
  62.         Special grille in the lower door with courtesy lights
  63.           in the center of the grille.
  64.  
  65.         Brushed aluminum dash inserts (rather than the black
  66.           camera case type).
  67.  
  68.         Molded seat backs and side shields, plus trim buttons in
  69.           the seat back cushion.
  70.  
  71.         Roof console with twin map lights (except convertible)

  73.         Bright trim on brake and clutch pedals.
  74.  
  75.         Vinyl grip insert on automatic shifter.

  77.         Eletric clock in dash

  83.     The snap open gas cap is part of the Exterior Decor Group.
  84.     W/out this group, you got the standard gas cap with the GT
  85.     emblem on it.  The Exterior Decor Group includes the following:

  87.         Bright wheel lip moldings.

  89.         Louvered hood with integral turn indicators.
  90.  
  91.         Bright rear deck molding (standard on all FBs).
  92.  
  93.         Pop open gas cap.

  95.     Also, the GT option was only available on V-8 equipped cars.
  96.     Oh yeah, it also says GT's came with a Special Handling Package
  97.     with higher rate springs and shocks, and a larger front stabilizer
  98.     bar.

  100.     Hope this helps, like someone else said, going to a Mustang
  101.     restoration house might be the simplest way of finding out.
