- I purchased a 1993 Ford Probe one month ago and I think it is a great
- car! The only recommendation Ford recommends regarding breaking in
- the engine is to vary the speed frequently for the 1st 1000 miles.
- Since the also recommend changing the oil and filter every 7500 miles
- (which I consider to be much too long of an interval), I am concerned
- about the break-in recommendation.
-
- I have 3 questions about this break-in procedure:
- 1) Is 1000 thousand miles long enough or would the engine benefit
- significantly by a longer break-in period?
- 2) How frequent should "frequent" speed changes be?
- 3) Why is it important for the speed of a new engine to be changed
- frequently?
-
- I hope someone can reply to these questions--and I'm sure someone will
- because I've been very impressed with some of the other discussions
- I've been seeing in this group.
-
- Thanks--Dan Tuttle
