  22. tree pruners and place them in your hand.

  24. Second you approach the offending vehicle and crawl underneath with the 
  25. pruners.

  32. Now for my last 2 cents before this subject dies.

  34. On the subject of false alarms. What it boils down to is the equipment and 
  35. the installation. If you use cheap equipment you get cheap results. There
  36. are many "professional" alarm systems that are cheap and false quite a bit.
  37. If you see cars that have these alarms and you know they are falsing make
  38. a mental note of it and don't buy those systems. .

  40. Also the installation is important. Many times faulty adjustment on the
  41. shock sensors creates false alarms. What people don't realize is that you
  42. don't need to set these devices so that if you touch the car they
  43. activate. This is useless because you get an alarm that falses during
  44. rainstorms and when people walk by. In other words you get the boy
  45. who cries wolf. These sensors are designed to detect hard shocks to the car's
  46. body and glass. They are not made to detect when your car is lightly hit with 
  47. a car door in a parking lot, or when somoeone leans on your car. If you car
  48. alarm can detect these things you will get false alarms.

  50. To whoever recommended pager systems. You are right. The only person who
  51. cares about a car alarm going off is the owner of the vehicle!! The sound
  52. of the alarm is to potentially bring attention to the vechicle and scare
  53. off the offender. Generally though people will not call the police for you.
  54. In my car I have an audible and silent alarm. So I get the best of both worlds
  55. I usually recommend that most other people do the same..
