  14. I've got a `90 Jetta GLI and i began with replacing the rear 4" speakers
  15. with a set of 6.5" component speakers.  This required cutting, however, 
  16. using a larger speaker in the rear makes a world of difference.  If you'd
  17. rather not cut consider dropping in a pair of 5 1/4" in the existing
  18. hole (chech the fit first though).

  24. This is where i began, only, decide how far you want to go, so that you don't
  25. end up buying speakers that you'll eventually need to upgrade.

  35. about to buy another for my sub.

  43. MB Quart makes a set designed especially for Jetta/Golf, major $$$$ though
  44. IMO.  In terms of amplifier, just get a good one, PPI, ADS, Pheonix Gold etc.

  49. A subwoofer is never "overkill".  Do you want to be able to hear all of
  50. the recorded information on a particular cut of a disk, or better yet what
  51. would life be like without the color blue, particularly when everyone else
  52. could see blue.
