  33. Since there's no requirement that anyone originating a new recording
  34. must encode the SCMS with a prohibition code, the idea of "shareware"
  35. music is still a possibility even with SCMS.  All then an "underground
  36. band" needs to do is record their DAT album and encode the SCMS 
  37. with an 00 code that allows unlimited generations of copies.  
  38. Assuming the band uses a PRO-DAT deck, the SCMS code can be
  39. set to any of the 4 possibilities, including the 00 code.
