- Since there's no requirement that anyone originating a new recording
- must encode the SCMS with a prohibition code, the idea of "shareware"
- music is still a possibility even with SCMS. All then an "underground
- band" needs to do is record their DAT album and encode the SCMS
- with an 00 code that allows unlimited generations of copies.
- Assuming the band uses a PRO-DAT deck, the SCMS code can be
- set to any of the 4 possibilities, including the 00 code.
