- I don't know if this has been said or not, but, according to an article I
- read in either StarLog or a info file, B-5 was filming and ready to go
- before DS9 started. The only reason it is being shown after the premiere
- of DS9 is because they want it to be concurrent with the other shows
- that are on the new warner brother network.
-
- I know this doesn't mean that ideas couldn't have been stolen, but
- I wonder if this would be a question if B5 had come out first, or if
- people would be questioning DS9 instead.
-
- Also, according to the same articles, B5 already has a 5-8 year
- storyline already set up, indicating that a lot of creative work
- has gone into it as an orginal idea, and that the tone of B-5 is entirely
- diffrent that Star Trek, taking on a much darker and 'realistic' view
- of the future than Star Trek. I've heard that the unofficial motto
- of B5 is "No Cute Kids or Robots...ever."
-
- But, besides the above, don't you think we should wait and SEE it
- first, BEFORE we past judgement on it? Remember everyones reaction to
- the idea of Star Trek:TNG trying to take the place of Star Trek? Personally,
- I'm looking forward to seeing (hopefully) another quality Science Fiction
- show out there - I love Star Trek, but variety (and a little bit of competition)will spice things up. :)
