- LILLY
-
- The sun beats hot on your cool, white brow --
- shall we take a siesta, then
- walk in the moonlight?
- Arsenic lilly, a fatal snow-bloom
- tranquil on your cheeks,
- feels soft to my lips as I kiss you hello.
- How come you here, love, so far from home --
- to drown in tropic heat,
- to steal the soul from our sands?
- Death pale in the night you glow like a nymph
- and flutter your dove-hands on my breast.
