- We've gone through this before, with varying levels of annoyance. Soo, I'm
- just gonna chuck in my quick two cents...
-
- NO!
-
- I don't feel that the Doctor could be played by a woman. I just feel that a
- Time Lord (or Time Lady, the two not overlapping...) cannot regenerate to a
- member of the opposite sex. It doesn't seem that the series implied this in
- any way, and would cause great problems for some of the existing storylines.
- There seems to be some sort of martial institution on Gallifrey, and some
- concept of love between the opposite sex. Imagine if Leela woke up one day to
- find that her husband is now a woman! Or if Susan's husband (I forget both of
- the guys' names...) discovered that she's suddenly become a man! It would be
- too weird to contemplate. It's all well and good justifying everything by
- saying that the Doctor's an alien, but certain steps have to be taken to keep
- him semi-human, and in some way identifiable with the viewing public.
-
- Don't take this as a sexist remark in any way. I'm all for a female lead in the
- show - I think it could only broaden the scope and interest of the greatest
- show in the galaxy. (Sorry.) However, I think there's a better way to do it
- than having the Doctor regenrate into a woman.
