  12. Ace reminds me of a friend of mine, that's why I like her.  She has
  13. overcome most of her emotional screwups with grit and determination
  14. (at least by the time of "Nightshade") and she is a strong, admirable
  15. character, originally one of life's walking wounded, now a true hero.

  17. And yes, I do think she has the most interesting character in Doctor
  18. Who.  Compare her to the Master (who I'm constantly expecting to
  19. see tying wenches to railway lines).

  21. Apart from Romana she's the only character I can admire in Doctor
  22. Who (aside from the mid-period Doctor).

  24. At the beginning and in the most recent time, the Doctor is an antihero,
  25. which is why we need characters like Ian, Barbara and Ace to be our
  26. representatives.  Anyone can see that.
