  31.     MMM...this is a widely held view in British fandom (Brett was voted 
  32.     the fans favourite two years back I think) but this is a bigggg
  33.         mistake. Why? Brett may be a very good actor but HE IS Sherlock
  34.     Holmes, I cannot see hi Dr being wildly different, nor - and this is
  35.     the important bit -- could I see the audience identifying him as the
  36.     Doctor, because he is Sherlock Holmes (Exactly my problem!)
  37.     The choice of Brett would be a total disaster for the ratings in a
  38.     new show.
  39.     A sensible and affordable choice of a tv detective is John Thaw,
  40.     what do you think of that?
