  37. Well, I ws impressed by Alien 3, despite its startling departure from the
  38. other two films.  Criticisms (e.g. gratuitous use of the word f***, which did
  39. have some interesting thematic implications, made the last half somewhat
  40. grating) were not too difficult to overlook, and on the whole it was a
  41. daring move to end something which could easily have carried on into sequel
  42. hell.  But I agree that the summer was somewhat lame as far as movies go
  43. (excepting the silly but charming Batman Returns).
