- The fact that this series continues where the last one ended off leads me to
- think it may have been a Marvel Productions cartoon. MP did the original G.I.
- JOE cartoon, and the Serpentor movie was one of the last things they did
- before fading into obscurity (yeah, I know they're now back with X-MEN, but
- back then, there was more style and better animation). See below.
-
- As I mentioned before, the Serpentor JOE movie was not the original movie
- idea that was created. The original JOE movie concept had the Cobras out to
- kill a political science professor at a major university, because he had
- devised a philosophical rationale refuting the existence of Cobra. The Joes
- are then out to save this man, who they dub "the most dangerous man in the
- world" because of all the Cobra effort spent hunting him down. All this got
- sold down the tubes when Serpentor came into the picture -- the writer (Buzz
- Dixon?) went "Whaddayamean there's a new Cobra leader?" and had to crank out
- an entirely new story. Too bad, too, since "The Most Dangerous Man In the
- World" sounds MUCH more interesting than the Cobra-La garbage.

- >be aimed at a much younger audience. CC was more of a buffoon than a leader

-
- This was the new series, done by DIC. Ick. It has no relationship to the
- original JOE series, which explains the total lack of continuity. I believe
- Hasbro wanted to keep a JOE cartoon going even though Marvel Productions
- disappeared in the late '80s, so they got DIC instead.

- The comic book G.I. JOE, however, has been a fairly consistent model of
- quality writing and interesting plots. Kudos to Larry Hama.
