- Hi,
- I've been collecting T. clams for quit sometime now hoping that
- one day they will spawn in my tank. My question is, how big do they
- have to be before they spawn? I know T. Gigas can grow up to 3'
- across in the wild and the biggest clam I got is a 1' Gigas. I read
- somewhere that smaller clams will spawn, but the number of eggs and
- sperms released is considerable smaller. I have 2 ~7" Derasa, are
- they big enough to spawn? Does anyone have any info on commercially
- raised giant clams? Derasa seems to be the only farmed clam commonly
- available. How do they induce the clams to spawn? Moon light (just
- added to my tank)? And how big are the breeding stock? I am also in
- the process of getting some more Maximas. I have one 6" Maxima and one
- smaller on (3"), how big are big Maxs? It would be really nice if you
- clam owners out there can let me know how big are your biggest clams.
