  12. I'm planning on a chiller for my tank and by coinci-dink 
  13. one of the current fish magazines has an article on chillers. 
  14. It wasn't FAMA.

  16. Anyway it warns about having a cold tank in a warm room.
  17. It said that the outside of the tank will start "sweating"
  18. if the tank is made of thin glass or a less than 3/8-inch thick
  19. acrylic. Does anybody have this problem ?
  20. Should I get a thick-walled acrylic tank ?

  22. It also suggests putting the chiller outside the cabinet.
  23. If my cabinet has fans for ventilation, would it be ok
  24. to put it in the cabinet then ? Chillers are not exactly
  25. works of art that I want exposed. 8-)

  27. I see the brand "Aquanetics" a lot. Is this the best one
  28. around for the money ? Is it reliable ? Does it work 
  29. as it is rated to be (i.e. pull down temperature vs. gallons)
  30. Is the temperature setting mechanism accurate and
  31. reliable ? Do I need the electronic controller (I hope not) ?

  33. The "Aquanetics" I saw had female threaded pipes for I/O .
  34. What hose and male pipe can I use for the cooled water ?
  35. And where can I get this male pipe ?

  37. I'm planning to put the chiller like so: from the sump pump,
  38. to an Ocean Clear canister (chemical) to the chiller and
  39. the return hose to the main tank. There should be no 
  40. problem with this setup, right ? I'm also running out
  41. of horizontal space so I'll set these up vertically.
  42. e.g. the sump is below the main tank, the pump protrudes
  43. from the side, above that is the canister and above that
  44. is the chiller. Any problems with this ?

  46. Should I put foam on the sides of the tank for insulation ?
  47. How much power does a 1/4, 1/5, 1/6 HP chiller suck up ?
  48. Should I expect a big jump on my power bill ? Are these
  49. things noisy ? Do they require regular maintenance like
  50. oiling ?
