[This is the second of of four articles on mailing lists.]

dark-shadows

    Purpose: Dark Shadows was a daily soap opera that ran on ABC in
    the late sixties (ending in 1971).  It had a Gothic feel to it,
    and featured storylines involving witchcraft, vampires, werewolves
    and the supernatural.  It was (appropriately enough) "brought back
    from the dead" by NBC for a single season last year. It also
    spawned two feature films, a series of paperback novels, and lots
    more; the series is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year.
    There are a number of international fan clubs for the series, but
    so far there has been no newsgroup or (electronic) mailling list
    devoted to it.  Now there is.

    issues related to the DDTs defect tracking software from QualTrak,
    including (but not limited to) software, methods, mechanisms,
    techniques, general usage tips, policies, bugs, and bug workarounds.
    It is intended primarily for DDTs administrators, but that does
    not necessarily preclude other topics.

    "DDTs" and "QualTrak" are probably both trademarks of QualTrak.

dead-runners

    Purpose: The Dead Runners Society is a mailing list for runners
    who like to talk about the psychological, philosophical, and
    personal aspects of running. We really like to talk about anything
    that has to do with running, but we tend to be more interested in
    how it affects our lives and our brains rather than our 10K times.
    The group is very diverse in experience - there are marathoners
    and there are people who just jog around the block.

Decision Power

    Purpose: The workings of the Great Wok and all things deviant from
    accepted social norm are discussed here.  Occasionally disgusting,
    but not always, it is the home of ranting, experimental reports,
    news clippings and other related items.  Medical curiosities, cults,
    murders and other phenomena are well in place here.

DGRD

    Purpose: The digital games review digest is devoted to computer
    and video game reviews.  We're interested in just about any games
    that run on computers, including IBM PC, Atari, Amiga, Macintosh,
    Apple II and Unix computers, as well as video games for the
    Nintendo, Sega, NEC, Atari, and so on.  We also cover games for
    the portable market (e.g. the Atari Lynx and Nintendo GameBoy).

    This is a *REVIEWS ONLY* mailing list, with all submissions edited
    to fit into a common and consistent format.  Discussion of the
    relative merits of different gaming computers, technical
    discussion of resolution required to display 3D graphics, and
    general flaming and hostility will be left to the many different
    forums appropriate for that type of discussion.

    which is intended to distribute news about upcoming seasons and
    discussion on recently released episodes and keep it away from the

    themselves.

DSA-LGB

    DSA-LGB is a mailing list for members of the Lesbian/ Gay/Bisexual
    Commission of the Democratic Socialists of America, and for other
    people interested in discussing connections between sexual
    identity and the democratic socialist movement in the U.S. and
    other nations.  The list is neither archived nor moderated.

Dual-Personalities

    Purpose: The EMPLOY Mail List will be an electronic informational
    forum to assist federal employees and others in the sharing of job

    insight, experience and alternate perspectives to reach realistic
    solutions.  Electronic communications provides a convenient, cost
    effective, timely method of contacting valuable resources without
    the restraints of conventional communication.

    non-hostile environment for discussion among Christians who are members

    non-Christians may join the list and listen in but full blown debates
    between Anglicans and Protestants/Roman Catholics/non-Christians are
    best carried out in soc.religion.christian and talk.religion.misc
    newsgroups.  It is hoped that the availability of this list will not
    diminish the contributions Christians make there.  Discussions on

    be interested in, so if this isn't you, think twice about joining.
    In short, a forum where someone can ask "So how was work at the
    theater today?" and actually understand what you're talking about.

    automobiles, including maintenance, driving impressions, artistic

Extropians

    their latest interest in anarchocapitalist politics, techniques
    of life extension (including cryonics), the technological extension
    of human intelligence and perception, nanotechnology, spontaneous

FASE

    Purpose: FASE (Forum for Academic Software Engineering) provides
    a forum for communication among academic educators who teach
    software engineering.  Submissions are compiled and mailed to
    subscribers approximately monthly.

femail

    Purpose: The femail mailing list is intended to provide a forum
    for discussion of issues of interest to women, in a friendly
    atmosphere. The basic tenets of feminism and the day-to-day
    experiences of women do not have to be explained or defended.  Men
    and women can join, but everyone requesting to be added to the
    mailing list MUST provide the moderator with: 1) a full name; 2) a
    complete uucp path to a well-known host or a fully specified
    Internet address; 3) the correspondent's gender (for records and
    statistics only).  NO exceptions.

feminism-digest

Fiction-Writers

    Purpose: The Fiction Writers Group exists for two purposes:

      To give people interested in writing fiction professionally a
      support group of peers for where information can be shared and
      discussions of the task of writing can be carried on.

      To create an environment where Works In Progress can be passed
      around and criticized so that the author can find the weak spots
      and polish the manuscript into a salable work.

    The group has handled mostly Science Fiction, Fantasy, and related
    genres, but is not restricted to them.  Membership is open to
    anyone who has in interest in writing fiction regardless of
    previous experience or published/unpublished status.

    Members must be prepared to regularly contribute either by
    critiquing the work of others or presenting work for critique.

filmmakers

    Purpose: The Filmmakers' Mailing List deals with all aspects of
    motion picture production, with an emphasis on technical issues.
    Heavily stressed are construction and design issues for those
    working on tight budgets.  It should be emphasized that the subject
    is film, and not video.

firearms

    Purpose: The mailing list firearms has been created to provide
    an environment in which sportsmen can discuss issues of concern to
    them.  Topics include but are not limited to hunting, firearms
    safety, legal issues, reloading tips, maintenance suggestions,
    target shooting, and dissemination of general info. Anyone is
    welcome to join -- note that we do NOT intend to discuss the merits
    of gun control.

flamingo

    Purpose: The list is for unmoderated discussion among fans of the
    series "Parker Lewis" (formerly "Parker Lewis Can't Lose") on the
    Fox television network.  It is available both as a mail reflector

    discussion of the FM pirate radio.

folk-dancing

    Purpose: Any discussion of FOLK dancing. Areas of dance would
    include, but not be limited to: international, contra, square,

    on.  This mailing list also welcomes queries about where to find
    dance groups and how to get started dancing.

    Please note that the Folk Dancing Mailing List (FDML) operates in
    conjunction with the USENET newsgroup Rec.folk-dancing.  Material
    in Rec.folk-dancing appears in the FDML.  This mailing list is
    primarily for people who can not (or do not wish to) receive

    Purpose: Discussion of the new FSP protocol.  FSP is a set of
    programs that implements a public-access archive similar to an
    anonymous-FTP archive.  The difference is that FSP is
    connection-less and virtually state-less.  This list is open
    for everybody.

fsuucp

    Purpose: The FSUUCP mailing list is for the discussion, bug
    hunting, feature proposing, and announcements of the availability
    and release dates of FSUUCP, an MSDOS UUCP/mail/news package.
    FSUUCP is shareware, and includes uucico/uuxqt (with support for
    rmail and rnews (single, batched and compressed batch)), as well
    as readnews, postnews, mail, expire, uuq, uusnap, uulog, and a
    host of utilities.

funky-music

    Funk music is based on the rhythmic innovations pioneered by James
    Brown.  Other notable artists in the genre are Parliament,
    Funkadelic, War, Earth Wind and Fire, the Meters, and Mandrill.

    Funky music has a dance-able beat to it, a soulful feel, and an
    underlying intelligence.  All the varieties of music mentioned
    above, are funky.

fuzzy-ramblings

    Purpose: Discussion of the British girl group "We've Got a
    Fuzzbox and We're Going to Use It!!!".

    Purpose: Mail.gender is a list created for the purpose of
    discussing gender issues.  The intent is to provide an open-minded
    forum for discussion of gender stereotypes vs. individuality,
    gender roles and particularly how people can get beyond these
    restrictions.  Any related topic is fair game: I won't presume
    to dictate the subject matter of the list, I want everyone on the
    list to do that.  Anonymous "posting" is available.

    Christian uses of computer graphics and animations, especially

    images, and even joint projects, such as the design of a Christian
    computer game.

    animations, multimedia applications and video productions in support
    of various Christian ministries and other endeavors are WIDE OPEN.

GRASS

    Purpose: The GRASS (Generic Religions and Secret Societies)
    mailing list is a forum for the development of religions and
    secret societies for use in role-playing games. Both real-world
    and fictional religions and secret societies are covered. GRASS is
    an erratic volume, high signal-to-noise, mailing list.

GSP-List

    _Beanworld_, an unusual black and white comic published by Eclipse
    comics.  It is a moderated newsletter that occasionally receives

Guns N' Roses

    Purpose: Discussion about the band Guns N' Roses.  Much important
    fan info is published, including tour dates, set lists, magazine
    interview reprints, bootleg audio and video list availability, etc.

handicap

    Purpose:  The Handicap Digest provides an information/discussion
    exchange for issues dealing with the physically/mentally

    education, legal, technological aids and the handicapped in
    society.

    Note: The articles from the Handicap Digest are also posted in the
    Usenet Newsgroup, "misc.handicap".

Holocaust Information

    Purpose: The Holocaust Information list is devoted to Holocaust
    research, and to the refutation of those who deny the event.  It
    is currently an unmoderated, public list, but I reserve the right
    to change status to private/moderated if the need arises.

    Topics within the scope of the list include: World-wide racial
    supremacy organizations and activities, world-wide neo-nazi
    organizations and activities, Holocaust denial via electronic

    Hyperbole is a flexible hypertext manager developed at Brown
    University that sits atop of GNU Emacs and provides efficient

    complete Unix-compatible software system whose sources can be given

Internet Radio Journal

    Purpose: The Internet Radio Journal is both a repeater for the
    newsgroup rec.radio.broadcasting and on occasion, carries independent
    material as well.  The list is mailed as news warrants, and covers any
    subject related to domestic radio broadcasting.  Domestic in this case,
    refers to radio which is broadcast primarily for reception within
    the same country from which is originates.  The newsgroup and mailing
    list are international and frequently cover matters pertaining to
