  24. I should have added that I intend to include anyone involved in actively
  25. maintaining the current documentation as well; the only reason I haven't
  26. contacted any such people yet is that I still haven't had time to read the
  27. current files, and thus don't even really know who wrote them or whether
  28. said people still have any interest in keeping them up-to-date.

  30. I mention this because I got a somewhat miffed letter from one of them (who
  31. I'd never heard of, because I hadn't read his document yet), and just wanted
  32. to reassure everyone that I'm not trying to make some kind of weird power
  33. grab or make an end run around the existing process. I could say some fairly
  34. bogus-sounding Perot-like statements here about hearing a cry for change,
  35. being a servant of the users, and all that, all of which is fairly true, but
  36. would probably sound fairly stupid.

  38. In any case, I'll definitely be trying to include those who wrote the
  39. existing docs--as soon as I have time to read their work and figure out who
  40. they are. Stay tuned; meanwhile, public apologies if it looked like I was
  41. trying to deal people out. That was not, and is not, the plan.
