  41. I have talked to most Ahmadis on e-mail, and we are all very disturbed by this
  42. latest episode. One M. Jaffrey somehow was given "authority" unoficially and
  43. unilaterally by a Moderator of Soc.religion.islam to issue a CFV for the proposed
  44. s.r.i.ahmadiyya newsgroup. This is a most extraordinary move since of all people
  45. the moderator, one Balasat Ali has been aware that our moderator, Nabeel Rana
  46. was to woul be the one to  call for votes. This is clear since a previous CFV by
  47. Nabeel a week or two was cancelled. So the Ali and Jaffrey cannot claim any 
  48. sort of ignorance on this issue.

  51. So one is left to speculate on their motivation for making an un-offocial CFV. some 
  52. of the things that are disturbing us most is that (1) it may confuse many people so 
  53. that they may end up wasting their votes either by sending to the wrong address or
  54. simply getting fed up of it all; (2) the knowledge that the oppposing Muslims
  55. gain from who is voting YES for the s.r.i.a. may be used to canvass or even
  56. intimadate these people privately to vote NO.

  58. Since this is quite unprecedented, I am strongly in favour of cancelling the present
  59. CFV and waiting about a week or two before proceding. In the meantime, is it possible
  60. that the opposing camp should be penalised for their very obvious deception. I
  61. feel that strong and decisive action must be taken otherwise it may encourage them
  62. to other follys later on.
