  26. The second Codes/CASHE (Computer Aided Software/Hardware Engineering)
  27. workshop addresses theoretical aspects, methods, and tools for
  28. hardware/software codesign.  Hardware/software co-design techniques
  29. aim at the improvement of the development of heterogeneous
  30. systems.  The goals of HW/SW co-design techniques are the functional
  31. optimization of systems, optimization of the development process, cost
  32. reduction, and the reduction of development time.
  33.  
  34. This workshop will promote
  35. existing approaches and provide an informative exchange forum to report
  36. and learn about current developments in this area. In addition, contacts
  37. between research institutes and industrial development sites will be
  38. established.  Future trends and requirements will be discussed.
  39. Representatives from industry and academia are encouraged to present
  40. research activities, case studies,  and applications. Areas of interest
  41. include but are not limited to:
  42.  
  43. - Current (industrial) development processes for heterogeneous systems
  44. - Future requirements on development processes
  45. - Hardware/software co-design applications and case studies
  46. - Heterogeneous system design, modeling, and simulation techniques (and languages)
  47. - Strategies for delayed hardware/software partitioning
  48. - Hardware/software interface consistency management
  49. - Concurrent design management
  50. - CAD tool support for hardware/software co-design
  51. - Theoretical aspects of hardware/software co-design

  54. The attendee contributions will lay the basis of the working sessions.
  55. Authors are asked to submit three copies of an extended summary, along with three
  56. keywords describing the contents of their papers
  57. by February 12th, 1993. To encourage a free exchange of ideas,
  58. no proceedings will be published and no recording devices will be
  59. permitted.

  115. The cost of the workshop including accommodation (for 4 nights starting
  116. on Sunday), meals, and social events will be about DM 1000,- (~ US$ 700).
  117. Additional overnight stays will be arranged on request.  There will be no
  118. discounts for part-time participants.

  121. 12th, 1993. Notification of acceptance and/or final confirmation of
  122. participation will be sent out by April 15th, 1993.
