  25. No insult intended to the writing abilities of the published authors
  26. posting here, whose posts show that they do have the ability to write,
  27. but the ability to write does not correlate with the ability to get
  28. published.  There may be a lower cutoff, a level of quality below which
  29. you cannot hope to be published, but if so it is very low indeed.
  30. Beyond that I do not think you can find any relationship between ability
  31. and publications.  (At least, in the world of fiction.  Academic works
  32. and serious non-fiction may differ from this.)

  34. If I seem to harp on this point in my posts, that's probably because I
  35. do.  I have seen too many good fledgling writers torturing themselves
  36. because they couldn't get published and therefore must be bad writers.
