- Texas tried it. Early Voting (formerly called Absentee Voting) was allowed
- for a couple of weeks before the normal election day. I didn't get all
- the details, but weekend hours were included. Qualifications for
- Early Voting were essentially that you were a registered voter and wanted
- to vote now. The news reported long lines at some locations for Early
- Voting (since turnout was high, I suspect there would have been a real
- problem on election day if everyone had to vote then). There were reports
- of HOW MANY people were voting, but no vote counts until the evening of
- the actual election day.
