  12. after reading some of the other stories about kid's first plane trips,
  13. I thought I'd add my own.
  14. At the time, son Kevin was 3 1/2 and daughter Erin was 2 1/2, and we
  15. were taking a plane from Detroit Metro to Kansas City Intl?
  16. The kids were excited about being inside the plane, but when Kevin was
  17. getting settled into his seat he had a worried look on his face.  Then
  18. he asked "Mommy, is THIS plane going to crash??" Some really horrible thoughts
  19. about that possibilty ran through my mind, and I wasn't sure what the "right"
  20. response should be.
  21. I finally answered "Noooo, of course not!!", to which he replied, "oh, ok!!"
  22. and proceeded to settle in for a good time, with a big smile replacing the
  23. anxious look he'd had before.  
  24. I found a little simple reassurance went a long way, rather than trying to
  25. reason things out ....or admitting that there ways always that distinct
  26. possibility!!!
