- Sorry to answer this as a follow-up to a follow-up, but I missed the
- initial article.

- Our daughter (now 3 years old) fell during last year's summer holiday.
- She broke off part of one of her (upper) front teeth. We immediately
- went to the local dentist who tore out one splinter, leaving the root in
- place (One cheer for the dentist!)

- Both upper front teeth turned grey to black in the weeks after, but have
- returned to normal colour since then. When we returned home, my
- wife immediately took our daughter to her dentist who examined the teeth
- and told us not to worry. He advised us on leaving the stump in place,
- telling us it now was a mere placeholder for the tooth and it was
- needed to allow the second teeth to grow normal.
