  15. As the keeper of the FAQ File Index, I was chagrined to find that
  16. there isn't an FAQ file on this topic!  I know that there was a lot
  17. of discussion in this newsgroup a little while ago on transitioning
  18. a child from crib to bed, so if someone kept any of the articles,
  19. please pass them on to me.  I am also willing to compile the
  20. responses into an FAQ file, so *please e-mail* me your comments on how
  21. best to make the transition.  All responses will be placed in the
  22. FAQ file, along with names and e-mail addresses, so if you want your
  23. response to be kept anonymous, please state so explicitly.

  25. Please feel free to structure your response in any fashion you wish.
  26. However, the following questions might help you in formulating your
  27. comments:
  28.  
  29. (1)  What age was your child when you transitioned him/her to a bed?
  30. (2)  Was the transition motivated by the arrival of a new sibling?
  31. (3)  If the answer to (2) was no, why did you decide to move to a
  32.      bed at that time?  (Aside from the obvious sign of child 
  33.      climbing out of his/her crib, what factors conspired to make
  34.      you decide to transition your child when you did?)
  35. (4)  How did you go about preparing your child for the transition,
  36.      and did you find that the preparation paid off?
  37. (5)  Did you encounter any problems with your child wandering out of
  38.      his/her room in the middle of the night or early morning?  If
  39.      so, how did you solve the problem?
  40. (6)  Did moving your child from a crib to a bed result in any
  41.      changes to his/her sleep routine?  (Specifically, my husband
  42.      would like to know if sleeping in a bed will encourage our son
  43.      to stay in bed longer in the morning :-0.)
  44. (7)  Did you make the transition from a crib to a toddler bed or to
  45.      a regular sized bed (please specify what size)?  Were you happy
  46.      with the decision (i.e. crib to toddler bed)?
  47. (8)  If you had it to do over again, would you have made the
  48.      transition earlier, later or at the same time?  That is, did
  49.      you feel the timing was right for your child?
