- Speaking as someone who's had a retainers, braces twice, and now
- a "permanent" retainer (affixed to my teeth -- not removable except
- by the DDS), I'd try the retainer. I've been through a lot to have
- straight teeth and a normal bite (it was a terrible overbite). I
- wouldn't take chances. Your son's teeth might not get worse, but
- they *might*. It's personal, but I've been there and I'd take the
- ortho's advice. It may not seem like much, but I had a lot of
- anxiety and was teased a lot about my mouth by other kids. My gut
- reaction isn't to wait and see.
