  20. The hospital where I delivered had recently opened a new maternity
  21. floor with all the trimmings.  One of the best things they did was
  22. put in a security system for the babies just like the department
  23. stores.  When Brendan was born, they put an ID tag on his wrist
  24. with the same number as mine and they also put a small device around
  25. his ankle.  The ankle device sets off alarms if you pass beyond the
  26. maternity ward boundaries.  I guess they put it around the ankle 
  27. which is usually hidden under a blanket so that if someone tries to
  28. steal the baby, they don't notice it until it's too late.  The
  29. nurse had to use a special device to remove it from Brendan's ankle
  30. when we left.

  32. The funny thing about this was that my mother was carrying Brendan
  33. when we went for a walk and we didn't notice the monitors at the
  34. end of the hallway.  You guessed it, she set off the alarms and the
  35. nurses came running.  Even though they knew us they still checked
  36. our ID's for matching numbers because that was the policy.

  38. I thought it was a good system since it allowed visitors to come and
  39. go without too much hassle.

  42. Brendan is old enough to "phone home").
