- the child is in a rear facing position. The straps are used to stop a child
- from 'ramping up', in the case of a rear facing accident. When the child is
- in a forward facing position, the straps are to keep them from going forward,

- I kept my son rear facing until he was 11 months old (in a toddler seat), and
- I was told that you have to use the lower slots fro the strap, even if they
- are taller then that. I got the info from an LA based consumer group dealing
- with Child Car safety. They also urged me to keep him rear facing as long as
