- Sudafed with antihistamine, and HeadClear, both contain two main ingredients
- pseudoephedrine and chlorpheniramine maleate (what a mouthful!).
- Pseudoephidrine appears to have two main effects: drying the nasal passages
- and making you feel awake.
- The other ingredient is an antihistamine, which also tends to dry the nasal
- passages and which has a strong tendency to put you to sleep! This works
- very well for me and some other people I've recommended it to (except when
- they need to be alert), but others who have sinus headaches but not runny
- noses find it to be no help.
- In Australia, chlorphenaramine maleate is sold under the brand name Piriton
- and is available from chemists if you ask. I would expect it to be available
- in the US - ask your doctor.
- I don't have any children yet, so I know nothing about warnings for them,
- but when I asked about taking it during pregnancy my obstetrician said
- its the best antihistamine to use, with no ill effects.
-
- I hope this might help
-
- regards
- Jocelyn.
