- And I just want to back up your posting backing up Susan's posting. I too
- was dreading the possibility of an episiotomy. The amount of time spent
- on this in misc.kids probably means most women worry about this - a lot.
- But, it really isn't a big deal....or wasn't for me anyway. Jordan was
- a mid-forceps delivery and I had an episiotomy. When I asked my Doctor
- how many stitches....she said I didn't want to know....let's just call
- it one BIG stitch. She spent quite a while stitching me up...I really
- didn't notice...I had my beautiful baby in my arms. And, that was all
- that mattered.
-
- Healing time? Ice packs the night he was born (I was asleep and didn't
- really notice or mind them) and the next day (which I found soothing).
- Sitz (sp?) baths with warm water and salt for four or five days after.
- There was some tenderness for a couple of weeks. But nothing to be
- outraged about. Your mind really is on many other things.
-
- Now, a year a month later.....the only thing I remember is the relief
- of having him in my arms (after 19.5 hours)....and the wonderful caring
- nurses....and the gorgeous fall day we brought us home....and just the
- joy and wonder of him.
