- Ok, I've got a question. Yesterday, my son was diagnosed with
- bronchial pnuemonia. The doctor did say that it was contagious.
- The doctor said he should be kept away from other children for
- about 48 hours. I didnt mention yet that I'm pregnant (5 1/2 mths)
- , I should have.
-
- My husband was under the impression that our unborn baby could get
- pnuemonia along with me. He was also under the impression that there
- have been cases of where stillborn babies had died due to getting
- pnuemonia while still in the uterus. Well, I called my doctor this
- morning, told him the story. He said that, yes, if I get pnuemonia,
- chances are that the baby will get pnuemonia. But he also said that
- once I'm on medication, it would cure both me and the baby. He didnt
- say anything about stillborns or such. He did say that as long as I
- was taking care of myself, rest, good diet and such, that I shouldnt
- get pnuemonia.
-
- Well has anyone heard of the baby dying from pnuemonia before being
- born. I dont want to be paranoid, but I do want to be informed. I'm
- thinking that my doctor wouldnt want to tell me something like that if
- theres only a slight possiblity. My Pregnancy & Childbirth book didnt
- cover this subject.
