- Well, I finally have a chance to talk about Brian's (3.5 yrs) first
- plane trip. We went to Florida in October, and I read faithfully
- the FAQ on flying with children. I purchased little toys to play
- with on the plane, and brought enough snacks to feed an army. Hubby
- and I were prepared for the worst scenario. Boy did we get surprised!
- For a child that can't sit still for two minutes at a time, Brian was
- an angel. He was amazed with the inside of the plane, thrilled that
- we were actually served food and eating up in the sky, and generally
- loved the whole experience. What made us especially happy was a
- comment from the women that was sitting in front of us. When we
- landed, she turned around and thanked us for having such a wonderful
- little boy. She said when she got to her seat and saw a small child
- behind her she was prepared for 2 1/2 hours of torture, but she
- couldn't even tell there was anyone behind her. Needless to say, that
- made our day. The return flight was just as good, Brian even slept
- after eating. I don't know if we'll always be so lucky, but we have
- no qualms about flying with him again.
-
- So, for all you parents with "high-energy" kids - you might get a
- pleasant surprise like we did. In fact, Brian keeps asking us when
- we can go on a plane again, and his favorite toy now is a little
- airplane I got him at the airport in Florida. Kids, who can figure?
