- Just curious, what age are these friends? Have you communicated your
- desire that they ask for things to their parents? This doesn't need
- to be made a big deal, possibly just a passing comment. It also
- doesn't need to be negative...

- This is an excellent combination of standards. You can't force
- a child to eat what she doesn't want, but can expect her to be
- considerate of others' needs.

- As long as their diet has the right proportions of various
- nutrients, doesn't matter much what they eat.

- One thing to remember is that later in life (school+) we need to
- follow the schedule generally acceptable by society. I don't know
- when or how to start them eating on society's schedule. Any
- suggestions for future reference??

- It's very important that they eventually learn to eat lunch at the
- scheduled time or go hungry (unless you have a school system that
- allows them to eat whenever they want :-)

- (To my detractors: A post that doesn't mention that controversial
- parenting technique -- how did that happen?? Maybe I'm more than a
- single-issue kind of guy... ;-)
