- I'm not sure why obtaining foreign currency is such a big deal. Most major
- banks should have an international division which regularly buys and sells
- foreign funds. For the convenience of travelers they usually sell small
- amounts of coin and bills as well as traveler's checks. All of the major
- traveler check companies will issue them in foreign currency as well (quite
- useful if the currency in a country you're traveling to is going up in price).
-
- Depending on the amounts you're talking about, I would think dealing in
- options would make more sense, since you wouldn't be tying up funds that
- aren't earning interest. Most major stock broker's should be able to get
- currency options for you. Again, depending on the amounts, a major bank
- should be able to open an account denominated in a foreign currency, such
- that you would be earning interest as well.
