- No, I don't think that's the case at all.

- If you look at the funeral industry as a business, just like real
- estate or antiques or banking, you'll see that what the funeral home is
- trying to do is marketing, pure and simple. The next time Kate and her
- family need to make funeral arrangements (a very long time from now, I
- hope!), the funeral home wants to be the first place Kate thinks of.
- That's why they do these "thoughtful" promotions, like memorial
- ornaments, bookmarks and the like.

- still succeeded in getting her to think about them again.
