- I generally agree with what Otha said. Mann's ticketing and crowd control in
- Westwood is a complete disaster. This doesn't excuse the rioting, but given
- the atmosphere, it sure is damn stupid.
-
- I seem to remember reading about the ticketing problems in either the Daily
- Bruin or the LA Times, but they usually gloss over it when referring back to
- it in current stories.
-
- As for the merchants in Westwood, I suspect that they're probably more
- ignorant and paranoid than racist. I don't think they really understand the
- cause of the previous incidents and are worried that X might touch off
- another. They have made a big deal, though, about saying now how they're not
- the least bit worried about trouble with the X crowd. In fact, in yesterday's
- paper, they seemed to be complaining because Wednesday's openings were not
- sellouts (meaning less sales traffic in Westwood).
-
- I did read that the large majority of X attendees (at least so far) were
- black. Isn't that surprising?
