Dear Helen,
the Global Environment Watch is growing in interest and I have been geeting replies and involvement from Canada, England, Netherland, U.S.A (Hawaii, San Jose, Spokane, Idaho, Irving Tx, Massachusettes), South Africa and Taiwan. The take up in Australia is a little less impressive but I have made a contact through a School Support Centre computer consultant who is more than keen to get this project into schools. We are also having a push on Environment in our new school year commencing Jan 1993.
There are some school children involved but in the main it has been that initial interface with the teachers who have to drive it along and introduce it into their classrooms that I have been having the most contact with to date. I don't know if the current method best serves my concept any more as I have the vision that from different parts of the world could read each others reports. I know it porbably needs to narrow down in focus a bit more and to this end may be we could have a focus in each month a
nd at other times a general report period to pick up the problem with differences in seasonal periods. Its a bit hard to focus on flowers and the number of petals they have if some areas are in the middle of winter!!! I am making up most of objectives as I go along as my understandings improve and I gain better clarity about where we (ie those interested in the project) would like the project to go. I still like the concept of keeping it low keyed in the technical aspects but high on the observation and
awareness levels so that kids can easily key into the project.
I have the imformation about applying for project areas and I would like to have an open project area (if the GEWeventually meets all the criteria). My Fido Address is 3/633/669. I really don't know how long the Project should go for as it has a penpal type feel about it at the moment and we will ahve a problem here during late DEC/JAN with school holidays so (I'm on my knees here Helen so I hope you appreciate this) maybe if I could squeeze till Mar 31, 1993 and then if it lacks the legs, we can put
it to rest. Somehow I think it will blaze on.
