Peter, the last time you wrote (sorry about the delay but I had to finish my Grad Dip in Comptr Ed) you asked about:-
BTW, what colour are your springtails? Do you ever get any
pseudoscorpions? We've been extracting oodles of them from the garden
beds in Hyde Park, slap bang in the middle of the city!
.....
I found an Apple IIe Super Serial Card box that I had been collecting bugs in from the local area for the last couple of years. I really had forgatten about it till I added a rather nasty creature - the European Wasp - to the collection. European Wasps have a tendency down here to take up residence in your wall and basically destroy the timber framing. That is besides what I have to tell you...in the box I found two little creatures that look like scorpions. I knew we had them in Australia, something a
n Aunty once told me, but I found this pair in outer suburban Melbourne which shocked me a little, but we have had falcons nesting right in the heart of the city and reducing the pigeon population down lately. Do pseudoscorpions have the little stinger on the tail? The samples I have do . The tail has 4 smaller segments then a londer segment the length of two smaller segments onto which the stinger joins.
By the way, our springtails down here a deep shade of gray and found predominately under leaf litter.
