Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. Two of these names are from the languages of the native folks of the region, one is the name of a princess. Guess which is which.

And did you know that here in Edmonton, Alberta we watch the Spokane news broadcasts if we choose to. You are so close to us here on the western prairies that the cable TV brings the American networks to us from your city. We got to watch endless hours of American election coverage, including local politicians trying to get elected in Spokane, should say endless months. A relief now that it is over.
And did you know that a lot of people here on the western prairies think of Spokane as a great place to go for summer vacation (actually we usually call it summer holidays, but I have watched enough American TV to know the word can also be VACATION). Spokane is a long drive from Edmonton, a reasonable length from Calgary. When I was a kid we would go to Kalispel, Montana and shop at JC Penny's. Saved lots of money on school clothes.
