- In the Pulaski Co., VA classrooms, collaborative classroom
- means the placing of special ed. students in the regular class.
- For instance, my 6th period math class has 4 LD students. The
- LD teacher comes to my room twice a week. She monitors the LD
- students and helps with all the students. She often teaches
- the class, helps make modifications for the LD student and
- pulls the LD student or any other student that needs help.
- This allows the LD student the opportunity to be in the regular
- classroom, but still receive the necessary support that
- an LD student would need. This has been a very successful
- approach. The state of VA is attempting to implement this
- approach for ALL special students. Through the years I've had
- EMH students and have had 1 TMH student. Having a classroom
- with these special students not only benefits them, but also
- benefits the "regular" student.
- I teach 8th grade math at Pulaski Middle School.
