- JF>PM>JF> > Search me, boss.
- JF>PM>JF>I think that should be
- JF>PM>JF>Search me baas :-)
- JF>PM>In my view, sheep shots like that are for the woolly-minded.
- JF>the books of Wilbur Smith? If you did, you'd know which 'baas' I was
- JF>alluding to....
-
- Yup, read the said Wilbur, but he seems mainly to use Zulu (I think) so
- the term more commonly found in his books is (from memory) 'nkosi'. In
- any case, `search me BOSS' was actually entirely appropriate, if you
- know of the Bureau of State Security.
-
- What you encountered was me engaging in a bit of collateral thinking I
- do it for the interest, principally). Besides, I had all of these sheep
- jokes, just waiting to go forth into the world, and it's a fleece
- society, innit? Sorry, that was shear impudence, and I'll stop it
- immediately, wether ewe want me to or not. (Might as well be hanged for
- a sheep as a lamb, eh?) (Note that I have left you rams and Corriedales
- for use in your reply: hehehe, life wasn't meant to be greasy, unlike
- wool.)
-
- * Lukim yu? Wonem i tok?
- Long taim bilong masta, mi wok long has bilong Kokoda Trail (hap KT
- gerapim, long lik-lik sotpela bris bilong Laloki River), na wos long
- tripela ten kalabus plantim diwai (teak) long Brown River.
-
- Hope that's clear: I'm a bit rusty these days, and I keep tending to
- switch into Bahasa Indonesia, a failing I share with Oala Oala Rarua,
- they tell me. There was a time, though, when I used to keep inserting
- Motu and what I was taught to call neo-Melanesian into my Bahasa!
- Still, more power to you and Robin for keeping your grasp of Tok Pisin,
- and giving me a bit of practice, into the bargain.
