  17. Basically, the binutils do not support DECstations or other
  18. machines using MIPS's object file format.  There is some
  19. minimal support in bfd as needed for gdb, but that is all.
  20. I guess ar could be made to work without too much effort,
  21. but without ld and gas, which would be much more difficult,
  22. who cares?
